Avital Bio

My name is Avital Barak and I was born in Baltimore, MD.
Most of my childhood memories are from New York City.
As a teenager, I moved with my parents to Israel.

I have always been fascinated with metal and I really enjoy
       working in this media!!

While living in Dallas, Texas, I took the opportunity to study
Jewelry-Fabrication at the Craft Guild of Dallas.

After moving to the East Bay area in California, I took classes in  Jewelry and Welded Sculpture at the Crucible,
located in Oakland,CA.
My Welding teacher was Don Carlson, an experienced steel sculptor, well known in the SF Bay Area.

I learned how to work with the fascinating new media of Precious Metal Clay
at Hadar Jacobson’s studio, located in Albany.

As you can see in the different pages of my website, I create a wide variety of Art projects.
I love creating large sculptures in Steel, and smaller sculptures in Silver & Copper, as well as delicate Jewelry in Silver, incorporating chains, glass, beads & findings of various materials.

I am proud to be the Artist-Inventor of a unique patent line of jewelry called Jewel-In-A-Net.
This is an innovative, NEW type of jewelry, incorporating a Silver Mesh, to create Pendants that are designed to hold & display any Crystal or Stone.
